West Side Story

Romeo and Juliet come to New York City in the form of ill-fated lovers Tony and Maria in the musical theater staple West Side Story. When West Side Story opened on Broadway more than 50 years ago, its innovative combination of high drama, explosive dance sequences and unforgettable songs (Tonight, Somewhere, America) changed musical theater forever. The influence of West Side Story’s famed collaborators—Arthur Laurents, Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim—can still be felt on Broadway and in film and television today. This revival pays special tribute to West Side Story’s originators, incorporating direction from Laurents, retaining the totality of the original production’s score and restoring the “Dream Ballet” that was cut from the movie version of the musical. Join Artis—Naples as we revisit an American masterpiece.
