Yaniv Segal is the assistant conductor to Andrey Boreyko and the Naples Philharmonic and director of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. A versatile young conductor, composer and violinist who is dedicated to bringing classical music of all types to a broad and mainstream audience, he was spotlighted by Esquire magazine as a rising star who is “redefining classical music.” He also served as assistant conductor for the Krzysztof Penderecki Festival in Warsaw and assisted Bright Sheng on a recording for Naxos Records with the Hong Kong Philharmonic.
Highlights of Yaniv’s last season include recording Joy and Sorrow, a CD of new Klezmer-inspired music released on Chesky Records and HDtracks in 2015, and the premiere performances of his Rite of Spring (Redux), an arrangement of Stravinsky’s Rite for modern orchestra including electric guitar, bass guitar and saxophone.
