Mariinsky Theatre Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, Valery Gergiev is one of the world’s finest and most respected conductors. Dedicating much attention to operatic works by contemporary Russian composers, Gergiev has also revived the tradition of performing operas in their original languages. Gergiev’s many awards include the title of People’s Artist of Russia, the Dmitri Shostakovich Award, the Polar Music Prize, Netherland’s Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion, Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun and the French Order of the Legion of Honour.

Denis Matsuev

Denis Matsuev has become a virtuoso in the grandest of Russian pianistic tradition and has quickly established himself as one of the most prominent pianists of his generation. Matsuev performs with the world's finest orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, the Mariinsky Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra. Matsuev has been awarded the prestigious Shostakovich’s Prize as well as the State Prize of Russian Federation in Literature and Arts. In February 2014 Denis Matsuev performed at the Winter Olympics’ Closing Ceremony in Sochi.
