Artis—Naples' favorites return for an exquisite program featuring Paul Taylor’s Mercuric Tidings, Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements and Nine Sinatra Songs. The eighth-largest ballet company in the US, this is Miami City Ballet’s 29th season. Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez was a principal dancer for New York City Ballet for 24 years under George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins.

Led by Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez, Miami City Ballet is the eigth largest ballet company in the United States and among its most respected. The resident ballet company of Artis—Naples, the company also maintains homes in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. Considered one of the world's foremost Balanchine interpreters, the company's repertoire currently includes 98 ballets, including Balanchine's Prodigal Son, Apollo, Agon, The Four Temperaments and the full-length Jewels. In addition, the company has invested in the work of such contemporary choreographers as Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon and Trey McIntyre, and performs works from the classical canon, including Giselle, Don Quixote and Romeo and Juliet. The dancers of the Miami City Ballet are an international mix, coming from New York City Ballet, National Ballet of Caracas, National Ballet of Cuba and American Ballet Theatre, among others. In addition to its performing and touring schedule, the company also manages the Miami City Ballet School, which trains students for a professional career in dance.
