Bookmaking & Binding

Anna Tomczak
Artis—Naples Lifelong Learning

Learn to express a visual idea in the form of a unique book with wide creative latitude. A variety of binding styles (such as Coptic stitch) and bookmaking methods will be demonstrated and discussed. Non-silver processes will be emphasized, including blue print, photocopy transfers, hand painting and acrylic transfers.

Text methods such as rubbings, rubber stamp, embossing, collage, old-fashioned typewriter and computer-generated text will also be demonstrated.

Surface treatments will be introduced, such as coating with wax and hand painting. The workshop will emphasize the photographic image while including other modes of expression — drawing, poetry, collage and illustrations.

This workshop is a 3-day experience

Thursday—Saturday, March 19-21 · 10am-5pm

The first day of the workshop is Thursday, March 19 at 10am.
