Jodie DeSalvo—Piano Music
Jodie DeSalvo is joined by Naples Philharmonic concertmaster Glenn Basham for the second Piano Talk of the season. Having assumed the role of concertmaster with the orchestra in 1994, Basham has been one of Naples' most well-known and beloved musicians for nearly two decades. Like DeSalvo, Basham is an accomplished jazz musician as well as a respected classical performer. Audiences will have the opportunity to see DeSalvo and Basham's musical collaboration in action later this season with the Naples Philharmonic's Patriotic Pops program, featuring the Ragtime music of Scott Joplin.
An Artis—Naples favorite, Jodie DeSalvo is a graduate of the Hartt and Manhattan schools of music and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. DeSalvo is an artist faculty member at Florida International University in Miami.
Glenn Basham has served as the concertmaster of the Naples Philharmonic since 1994 and as an artist faculty member at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami since 1992. Basham also serves as the first violinist in the Bergonzi String Quartet, the Frost School of Music's quartet-in-residence.
A native of Washington DC, schooled at the North Carolina School of Music and Indiana University, Basham previous played with the Detroit Symphony and was a member of the Chester String Quartet. Basham has served as a concertmaster for festivals nationwide, including the Grand Teton Music Festival of Wyoming, the Colorado Music Festival, the Hot Springs Music Festival and the Pine Mountain Music Festival.
As a jazz musician, Basham has performed with Ira Sullivan, Simon Salz and John Blake, and is featured on Skitch Henderson's "Swinging with Strings."
