January 14:The Feud as Fate in Romeo and Juliet
In this play, fate isn’t a transcendent non-human force; it takes the form of the feud between the lovers’ families. Romeo and Juliet try to grow up into their gendered identities by resisting its patriarchal demands.
Join Brown University English professor and author Coppélia Kahn as she examines Romeo and Juliet in Artis—Naples’ Shakespeare in Film series.
