From the Music Director

Dear Friends,

It is with great pride and pleasure that I am writing you at the start of my first season as Music Director of the Naples Philharmonic. Ever since I first conducted the orchestra nearly two years ago, I have been impressed by your warmth and true embrace of the arts. Your support of this wonderful orchestra is a precious gift, and I am looking forward to providing you with breathtaking music and memorable performances.

Together we are embarking on a journey through centuries of classical music. Along with fresh perspectives on great classics, I aim to provide a few surprises that I hope will excite and inspire. We have also engaged a number of world-class artists to grace our stage alongside the orchestra. From violinist Gidon Kremer to pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, the talented soloists featured in our 2014-15 season will both delight and move you through the power of their performances.

My family and I look forward to returning to Naples. We miss not only the great natural beauty, but all our new friends as well.

I am encouraged by your love of the orchestra and trust in me, and I am eager to take the podium to begin our harmonious adventure together.
