Contemporary Sculpture: The Sculpture Collection of The Baker Museum and the Arik Levy Sculpture Exhibition
Larry Sibrack, docent for The Baker Museum, board member of the Art Alliance of Contemporary Glass and the Creative Glass Center of America and sculpture collector, will be the speaker and tour guide. Elke Schmid, founding member of The Baker Museum docents and coordinator of private docent tours of The Baker Museum, will support him. January 5, 2018.

Summer Interlude 2017
See Andrey Boreyko conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Joshua Bell. We check in to the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel in Northbrook, Illinois, and then go to dinner at the home of a major art collector. Day two is spent exploring the North Shore with a professional guide via motor coach. We will visit the Bahá’í Temple, the Chicago Botanical Garden, among other delights, and then go on to a celebratory evening, including dinner at the famed Ravinia Festival. July 11-13, 2017.

Miami Cruise and Coral Gables
We begin the day in Coral Gables with a visit to the Cernuda Gallery, one of the foremost galleries for historical and contemporary Cuban art in the US, followed by a visit to the Virginia Miller Gallery just next door. After lunch at Versailles Cuban restaurant, we will enjoy a cruise on the Miami River guided by noted Miami historian Paul George, Ph.D., professor of history, Miami Dade College. December 13, 2017.

Art Palm Beach
We will begin at either the Ann Norton Sculpture Garden or the Society of the Four Arts (depending on exhibition schedule). Following lunch at Pistache French Bistro in downtown West Palm Beach, we will attend the annual Art Palm Beach fair, where Baker Museum docent and Friends of Artis—Naples board member Larry Sibrack will guide us through the exhibiting galleries. This two-day trip will include a half-day tour of the Ringling College of Art and Design, where we will visit the digital and animation art department and attend a presentation on digital and animation cinema. We will follow with visits to the new digital library and the new visual arts center as well as the four galleries on campus. We will also visit the newly opened Cutler and Coville galleries at the Ringling Museum, featuring world-class contemporary glass sculpture and the Habatat Gallery of contemporary glass at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts. We’ll enjoy an evening of theater at the Asolo Theatre (either Shakespeare in Love or The Morning After Grace) and an architectural tour of mid-century modern homes. Our one-night stay will be at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Sarasota. Gourmet lunches and one dinner included. February 2-3, 2018.

Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton
This day trip will include a morning visit to the Boca Raton Museum of Art, including its permanent art and sculpture collections, ceramics by George Ohr, contemporary large-scale photography and paintings by Alex Katz. After lunch, we will visit the Nova Southeastern University Art Museum (formerly the Fort Lauderdale Art Center) for a private tour of the Frank Stella retrospective and the museum’s permanent collection. February 22, 2018.

This two-day trip features private, guided tours of the Salvador Dalí Museum, the Chihuly Collection, the
Museum of Fine Arts and the Imagine Museum, which focuses on light, design and a history of contemporary glass. To watch glass blowers at work, we will visit the Duncan McClellan Art Gallery and its private amphitheater, and we’ll enjoy an evening of theater at the American Stage. Our one-night stay will be at a scenic hotel near or at the marina. Gourmet lunches and one dinner are included. March 23-24, 2018.

Artis—Naples has recently become a member of the Museum Travel Alliance. Members of Friends of Artis—Naples at The Baker Museum and Leadership Circle are eligible to take advantage of this benefit. The Museum Travel Alliance (MTA) provides individual members of participating museums with access to unique, high-end cultural travel programs. Travelers will be joining members affiliated with other participating museums from across the country on MTA tours.
