ArtSmart


ArtSmart, The Baker Museum’s free art education outreach program, visits local schools and provides students with interactive presentations and hands-on art projects. Encouraging curiosity and creative problem solving, ArtSmart brings the art world to the classroom.

ArtSmart services provided

  • Presentations by The Baker Museum staff
  • Instruction and assistance in classroom art-making activities, if desired

ArtSmart materials provided

  • Art supplies for hands-on projects
  • Art reproductions, videos and books for in-classroom use

Selection of programs offered

  • Art and the Environment
    Be inspired by the art of Pam Longobardi, connect with the environment and create original artwork from repurposed materials.
  • Elements and Principles of Art
    These presentations can focus on one specific element or principle of art or combine a few for an exciting exploration of how artists use the elements and principles to make great art.
  • Museum Careers
    Learn about the variety of careers available at an art museum and plan a virtual exhibition with a focus on the role of each important job.
  • Inspired
    Discover what inspires artists and how they use their inspiration to make original artwork.
  • Artist Spotlight
    Get an up-close look at the unique style of the featured artist and create artwork inspired by each artist: Louise Nevelson, Roy Lichtenstein, Dale Chihuly, René Magritte, Romero Britto, Alexander Calder and Claude Monet.
