Chromatic harmonica and vibraphone virtuoso Hendrik Meurkens has taken “international acclaim” to an entirely new level. The multitalented jazz artist has lived on three different continents, establishing himself as a respected musician in his native Germany, then in Brazil and finally in the U.S. Suffusing his musical voice with influences from around the globe — especially from his time living in Brazil — Meurkens’ style is best described as samba-jazz. This season, Daniels Pavilion audiences will be transported to the jazz clubs of Rio as Meurkens and the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra present an evening of bossa nova- and samba-infused jazz.
