The Naples Philharmonic brings some of the greatest music ever written directly to Marco Island. Don’t miss Mozart and Tchaikovsky in these moving, intimate performances. Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings gets a full symphony treatment, plus principal horn Ryan Little solos in Mozart's Concerto for Horn and Orchestra. Special appearance by the full Naples Philharmonic Chorus, directed by James Cochran, and the Ave Maria University Chamber Choir, directed by Dr. Brice Gerlach.

Radu Paponiu

Radu Paponiu


Radu Paponiu is the assistant conductor to Andrey Boreyko and the Naples Philharmonic and director of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. A native of Romania, Radu recently completed his Master of Music degree in orchestral conducting at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied with Hugh Wolff. While in Boston, Radu was also conductor apprentice with the Handel and Haydn Society, assisting Harry Christophers and Richard Egarr. Radu also served on the conducting faculty for the Juilliard School Pre-College Division in New York.

Radu furthered his studies under the guidance of Robert Spano, Larry Rachleff, Leonard Slatkin, Patrick Summers and Federico Cortese. Additionally, Radu served as assistant conductor for the Aspen Opera Theater Center’s full production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte.

Radu began his musical studies on the violin at age seven, moving on to study privately with Carmen Runceanu and Stefan Gheorghiu. After coming to the US at the invitation of the Perlman Music Program, Radu was accepted to the studio of Robert Lipsett at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California, where he earned both a Bachelor of Music degree and an Artist Diploma degree in violin performance. Radu was appointed assistant conductor of the American Youth Symphony in spring 2011.

James Cochran

James Cochran


James Cochran is the founder and director of the Naples Philharmonic Chorus, director of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Chorus and resident organist of the Naples Philharmonic. As an organ recitalist, Cochran has performed in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Mexico. As the Naples Philharmonic Chorus director, he has prepared the ensemble for concerts under the batons of such preeminent conductors as Keith Lockhart, Jack Everly and Jorge Mester. Outside of his work with the Naples Philharmonic, Cochran serves as the director of music at the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church. Cochran holds master and doctorate of music arts degrees from the Eastman School of Music.

Ryan Little

Ryan Little


Ryan Little, principal horn, was born in Burke, Virginia, to a musical family. He currently serves as assistant principal/utility horn of the Britt Music & Arts Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon. Ryan received his Master of Music degree in 2017 from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice, where he studied with William VerMeulen of the Houston Symphony. In 2015, he received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, where he studied with Gail Williams and Jonathan Boen.

Ryan has performed with the Chicago Arts Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the New World Symphony. He won second prize and the Gretchen Snedeker Prize at the 2013 International Horn Competition of America. In 2014, he was selected as a finalist for the International Horn Society’s Premier Soloist Competition in London, England, and at the Aeolus International Competition for Wind Instruments in Düsseldorf, Germany. As a concert soloist, he has performed with Northwestern University’s Baroque Music Ensemble and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, l’Orchestre de la Francophonie (Montréal) and the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra.

During the summers, he has participated as a fellow in the Castleton Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy, National Orchestral Institute and Festival, l’Orchestre de la Francophonie, Spoleto Festival USA and Tanglewood Music Center. Ryan performs on an instrument made in 2012 by Karl Hill of Rockford, Michigan.
