Joan Jacobs, lecturer

In this lecture, Joan discusses French Impressionist artists Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cassatt, Cézanne, Morisot and Pissarro, who created some of the best-known and most-loved works in the history of art — and how they changed the face of art forever.

This presentation is part of Joan Jacobs' Art Talk series.

Joan Jacobs

Joan Jacobs

It is often said that if you teach a child to read, he/she will love learning. If the saying is accurate, then art historian Joan Jacobs was destined to develop a true love of culture. Throughout her childhood, Joan’s parents introduced her to various styles of art by visiting the extraordinary museums in New York City. She became passionate about art and received her art history degree at the University of Maryland.

Now, she shares her knowledge of and passion for art by leading group lectures nationally and internationally. Her company, Art Talk, Inc., offers comprehensive presentations on art history, complemented by her handmade, customized museum-quality images. The lectures are designed to interest both the art lover who wishes to learn more and the novice who is ready to discover the treasures of Western civilization.

Joan’s lectures focus on relating great art to everyday life and reflect her enthusiasm for art history. Audiences worldwide respond to her unique ability to communicate that enthusiasm, and she in turn enables them to appreciate the artists’ lives, their problems, intentions and above all, their immortal masterpieces.

Joan is an accomplished public speaker with over 25 years of experience. A people person, Joan is at ease in front of any size audience. Her energetic and enthusiastic approach combined with her outgoing personality have made her a favorite lecturer among her numerous audiences.
