James Ehnes, violin and leader

Beethoven — Romance in F Major
Strauss — Metamorphosen
Sibelius — Suite for Violin and Strings
Mozart — Violin Concerto No. 5, “Turkish”

Artis—Naples Artistic Partner James Ehnes returns to perform with and lead the orchestra through a beautiful and diverse program of classical works, beginning with Beethoven’s intimate Romance in F Major, sure to captivate listeners with its delicate interplay between the violin and orchestra. James and the orchestra follow up with Strauss’ Metamorphosen, a massive “chamber” piece written for 23 solo string instruments, plus Sibelius’ vibrant Suite for Violin and Strings, brimming with energy and rife with opportunities for James’ pure virtuosity to shine through. Rounding out the program, the orchestra performs Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, a joyful work with dazzling solo violin passages and a rollicking finale featuring a Turkish-inspired theme.

Prelude at 7pm
Join the conductor before the performance for an insightful 30-minute prelude discussion about the program.
