Fazil Say, piano

L. Boulanger — D'un matin de printemps
Ravel — Piano Concerto in G Major
Copland — Symphony No. 3

Under the baton of guest conductor Kazem Abdullah as he makes his Naples Philharmonic debut, the orchestra performs a compelling and colorful program of classical works bursting with melodies, fanfare and even some jazz. The program opens with woman composer Lili Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps, capturing the fresh excitement of a spring morning. World-renowned Turkish pianist, composer and activist Fazil Say joins the orchestra onstage to perform Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, full of jazz-inspired rhythms, rich harmonies and sparkling melodies — a perfect opportunity to highlight Say’s technical mastery and personal love for jazz. Finally, the program concludes with Copland’s Third Symphony, a celebration of the energy and optimism of the American spirit, accentuated by bold brass fanfares, sweeping melodies and driving rhythms.

Prelude at 7pm
Join the conductor before the performance for an insightful 30-minute prelude discussion about the program.
