Eybler — String Trio in C Major, Op. 2
Farrenc — Piano Trio No. 1

In the shadow of Mozart, it is often easy to overlook his many accomplished contemporaries. Fortunately, Austrian composer Joseph Eybler’s String Trio has not been forgotten: In his day, Eybler was thought by some to be the greatest musical mind in Vienna (second to his friend Mozart, of course). The easy listening of his String Trio’s glowing melodies and smooth harmonies belies the piece’s strenuous technical demands. Musicians of the Naples Philharmonic perform Eybler’s jovial trio as well as French pianist and composer Louise Farrenc’s Piano Trio in E-flat Major, reminiscent of Beethoven’s earlier works in both structure and rhythm.

The Sypert Salon Series is generously sponsored by Drs. George Sypert and Joy Arpin.
