Couperin — L’apothéose de Lully
Beethoven — String Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 127

One of the greatest French Baroque composers, François Couperin’s L’Apothéose de Lully was a musical tribute to his predecessor, Jean-Baptiste Lully, following the journey of Lully’s soul as it ascends the heights of Mount Parnassus. Couperin’s work gracefully reconciles the French and Italian styles of the day—no small feat! Following a performance of this delicate piece, musicians of the Naples Philharmonic present Beethoven’s boisterous String Quartet Op. 127, the first of Beethoven’s late quartets, a piece bursting with joy, warmth and humor.

The Sypert Salon Series is generously sponsored by Drs. George Sypert and Joy Arpin.
