Musicians of the Naples Philharmonic

Mozart — Duo for Violin and Viola in B-flat Major, K. 424
C. Schumann — Piano Trio in G Minor, Op. 17

If there is something to be learned about Mozart from his Duos for Violin and Viola, it is that he was as great a friend as he was a composer. When his friend Michael Haydn, younger brother of Mozart’s mentor Joseph Haydn, fell ill and was on the verge of missing an important deadline for a series of duets, Mozart wrote furiously and delivered the two remaining duets under Haydn’s name. Enjoy a performance of the second of these two duets by musicians of the Naples Philharmonic, followed by Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio, a soft yet robust piece that earned Schumann the admiration of various composers, including Brahms.

The Sypert Salon Series is generously sponsored by Drs. George Sypert and Joy Arpin.
