Mendelssohn — Octet

The 2023-24 Wang Chamber Music series opens with a splash as the lauded Miró Quartet joins the Naples Philharmonic for a riveting  performance in Daniels Pavilion. The program opens with Home, a piece written by Pulitzer Prize- and Grammy Award-winning composer Kevin Puts for the musicians of the Miró Quartet. The music of Home explores the universal concept of home itself: what it is like to leave one’s home, either by choice or by necessity, and the heartfelt search of trying to find a new place of belonging. The Miró Quartet is then joined by four musicians of the Naples Philharmonic to perform Mendelssohn’s Octet, an energetic and joyful toast to the hopefulness of youth composed by Mendelssohn when he was just 16 years old.

The Wang Chamber Music series is generously sponsored by David* and Cecile Wang.
