Everyone is delusional until their dreams come true. In this feel-good music documentary, director Jeff Toye tells the story of street performer Philip Labes, who wrote 30 songs in 30 days to process his grief and isolation during the pandemic. When his clever, heartfelt songs like A TV Called Earth reached millions on TikTok, including Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, Labes unexpectedly receives an invitation to appear as the opening act on his North American tour.
In the last year, Labes, who is also an actor (The OA, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., GLOW and HBO’s Watchmen), released an album for each season, something no one has done (except Vivaldi), independently pressed and sold 2,000 albums and headlined his own tour. The folk singer recently released his latest EP called Sorry State, a collection of seven songs about his home state of Florida.
Following the Norris Garden film screening, Labes will perform.
