Music and Rhythm:
Our Bodies and Minds Dance

Frank Cooper's Music and Arts Series
Artis—Naples Lifelong Learning

Frank Cooper, Research Professor Emeritus, Musicology, at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami

Our Bodies Dance:
We have always danced, driven by impulses inherent in the rhythms of the universe. Primordial urges, primitive rites sacred and secular — stylized bodily movement of the body has defined humans for millennia.

Our Minds Dance:
Since the Baroque, composers of solo sonatas, string quartets and symphonies have placed dances in contrast with abstract forms, enriching both for our pleasure.

This lecture is part of Frank Cooper's Music and Arts series.
