"I am so thankful to have a strong youth orchestra program in my community. The challenging repertoire I learn every season brings me to a new level of skill and appreciation for classical music."

Youth Orchestra

An orchestral training ensemble for motivated young musicians, the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (NPYO) provides opportunities for middle and high school students in Lee and Collier counties to perform a wide-range of music, including classical, pop and film score selections.

This intensive program places accomplished young musicians in rehearsal and performance settings with the Naples Philharmonic, one of the country’s most highly-regarded young orchestras.

The NPYO also performs Side-by-Side concerts with the Naples Philharmonic under the baton of featured guest conductors and Yaniv Segal, Assistant Conductor of the Naples Philharmonic.

Auditions are held in the fall and spring. Once selected, student musicians rehearse on Sundays from September through May and are coached by Naples Philharmonic musicians.

The Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is generously underwritten by The Stonisch Foundation.

Auditions will be held Thursday and Friday, September 4 & 5, 2014

Students wishing to audition should prepare major scales through three sharps and three flats, two octaves, three where possible, including arpeggios. Prepare a short solo displaying technical ability, and a lyrical section to play for the judges. Be sure to bring a copy of the music for the judges to review. Excerpts for the particular instrument will be heard, as well as a short sight reading. The fee for the audition is $15 for those who are not currently a member of other youth ensemble groups at Artis—Naples.

Combining the talents of Naples’ most gifted middle and high school-aged musicians, the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra delights audiences in these popular annual concerts.
