Under the direction of Naples Philharmonic violinist Gregg Anderson, the Naples Philharmonic Youth Symphonia (NPYS) is a string-training ensemble for motivated elementary school through high school student musicians. Members of the NPYS have the opportunity to perform in chamber and full-string ensemble settings representing a wide range of genres, including classical, popular and film music.
Auditions are held in fall and spring. The NPYS rehearses on Saturday mornings, 9am-noon, from September through May at Artis—Naples.
On June 13-17, 2016, both Naples Philharmonic Youth Symphonia players and exceptional young musicians are welcome to join in this one-week string chamber intensive program, culminating in a free Friday evening concert for the public. Led by Naples Philharmonic violinist and Naples Philharmonic Youth Symphonia conductor Gregg Anderson, the concert includes chamber music and full-ensemble selections.
Auditions for the Chamber Festival will take place on Friday, May 20, 2016, by appointment. To schedule an audition, please email YouthSymphonia@artisnaples.org.
