Music Makers Youth Chorus Camp

Application Process
- Please complete the application with the link above.
- Applicants shall be notified of their acceptance status by May 14.
- Students who are not currently members of the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Youth Orchestra will be required to submit a video audition with their registration.
- Blues Improvisation
- Students will be asked to improvise over a medium tempo B flat concert blues.
- Trombone, piano, guitar, bass, vibraphone: B Flat blues
- Trumpet and tenor saxophone: C blues.
- Alto and baritone saxophone: G blues.
- Solo Piece
- Student should prepare a solo piece of choice. Examples include:
- Play the melody and/or improvise on a standard tune.
- Play the melody and/or improvise on a jazz original.
- Play the melody on a ballad.
- Play a solo transcription.
- Play a jazz etude.
- Student should prepare a solo piece of choice. Examples include:
- Rhythm Section Addendum (piano, guitar, bass, drums):
- Piano and guitar will be asked to comp and create own voicings from chord changes (not required to participate).
- Bass will be asked to walk and create own bass line from chord changes (not required to participate).
- Drums are asked to demonstrate swing and Latin styles (bossa nova and Afro Cuban).

Tuition
$300. Financial assistance is available based on need.
Members of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Jazz Orchestra and other jazz students ages 12 to 17 are invited to challenge themselves in a fun, yet intensive week packed with seminars, rehearsals, master classes and a final performance. Each day, students will work together in combo groups to practice essential jazz performance skills, especially improvisation.
Schedule
Students will rotate between seminars, rehearsals, instrumental master classes and other instructional time.
