It is hard to call New York City-based vocalist Lucy Yeghiazaryan an “up-and-coming name” in the world of jazz music when the Armenian-American singer has already accomplished so much. With her buttery-smooth voice and delivery reminiscent of jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Yeghiazaryan brings a fresh and distinct approach to her performances.
When she joins the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra for one night in Daniels Pavilion, patrons will quickly notice her commanding stage presence and unique ability to blend classic and contemporary traditions. Yeghiazaryan seamlessly mixes improvisation with faithful renditions of jazz classics. Since relocating with her family to the U.S. in 2002 following Armenia’s economic collapse, she has become an integral part of the New York jazz scene, performing at venues from small clubs to Jazz at Lincoln Center.
