Lecture

Four O’clock at the Movies Emilia Pérez

Elaine Newton, Professor Emeritus of Humanities at York University, Toronto

Tired of his life of crime and its toll on him, a notorious cartel boss pursues a fresh start — and even a chance at redemption — by embracing his true identity. With the help of a lawyer, he leaves his old life behind by becoming the woman he’s always dreamed of being. Emilia Pérez presents an imaginative and bold blend of humor, music and heart as it explores themes of identity, transformation and self-discovery in a world where change seems impossible.

This presentation is part of Elaine Newton's Four O’clock at the Movies series.
