Entangled in the Mangroves
Meditation on Nature
Laurie Lyons, founder and director of Zen & the Arts
Step into the intersection of art, meditation and nature with a reflective experience at The Baker Museum. Guided by local Zen teacher Laurie Lyons, these immersive sessions offer a unique way to connect with Entangled in the Mangroves, an exhibition that brings together artists, Indigenous communities, scientists and activists to explore the richly diverse Everglades ecosystem. In our daily lives, it’s easy to become disconnected from this fragile ecosystem — one that exists right in our backyard — and to forget how intimately linked we are with nature. Meditation can help us remember that we are not separate beings living adjacent to the Everglades, but active participants and expressions of nature. Walking meditation will take us through the exhibition to encounter a variety of works by several artists. The session will also include discussion and seated meditation.
Seating will be provided. Options include floor cushions, benches and stools. Please note that, due to space constraints, seating with back support is unavailable. This experience is open to all. No prior experience with meditation or art is necessary—simply bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore.
This event is part of the exhibition Entangled in the Mangroves.
All guided meditation tickets include same-day admission to The Baker Museum.
