Join the artists featured in Florida Contemporary 2026-27 for a lively panel discussion celebrating the state’s vibrant art scene. This annual exhibition showcases a select group of notable visual artists practicing in Florida, highlighting the diverse approaches to personal, local and global themes. The 14th edition of the exhibition features Dustin Harewood, Nicario Jiménez-Quispe, Savannah Magnolia, Anastasia Samoylova. These dynamic artists embody the creative energy and intellectual vigor that define Florida’s visual art landscape.

This presentation is part of the exhibition Florida Contemporary 2026-27.

All museum lectures and public programs of The Baker Museum include same-day admission to The Baker Museum.

Dustin Harewood

Dustin Harewood


Dustin Harewood (b. 1978) grew up in New York City and Barbados. He lives in Jacksonville, where he has taught at Florida State College Jacksonville since 2004. Harewood is active as a painter and a muralist, and he will create a site-specific mural in the museum’s Blair Foundation Gallery. His wide-ranging interests include the environmental and societal effects of industrialization and colonialism.

Nicario Jiménez-Quispe

Nicario Jiménez-Quispe


Nicario Jiménez-Quispe (b. 1957), born in Ayacucho, Perú, is a master retablo artist whose intricate mixed-media dioramas blend traditional Andean art with contemporary themes of resilience, migration and daily life. Shaped by family tradition, his retablos have been exhibited nationally at organizations including the Smithsonian Institution, which also holds his work in their permanent collection.

Savannah Magnolia

Savannah Magnolia


Savannah Magnolia (b. 1996) was born in Fort Myers and is based in St. Petersburg. She studied neuroscience at Boston University and later shifted her focus to painting, earning a BFA from the Ringling College of Art and Design and creating stylized interpretations of human anatomy with a distinctive hard-edge style and boldly saturated color

Anastasia Samoylova

Anastasia Samoylova


Anastasia Samoylova (b. 1984) is a photographer, painter and installation artist who was born in Moscow and lives in Miami. Her work explores the issues that pervade contemporary life by mining the rich visual spectacles of Florida. Samoylova was featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in the 2024-25 exhibition Floridas: Anastasia Samoylova and Walker Evans.
