Opening Act
New Breed Brass Band
Blending Louisiana roots with funk, jazz, rock, hip-hop and Caribbean influences, the Grammy-nominated New Breed Brass Band delivers a fresh take on the New Orleans brass tradition. Steeped in the rich traditions of their hometown’s street music, the group channels unbridled energy of a second line parade — raucous horns, driving rhythms and all — to kick off the evening with the unmistakable swagger and style of the Big Easy.

Trombone Shorty
Born Troy Andrews, Trombone Shorty began performing earlier than most — appearing at Jazz Fest with Bo Diddley at age 4, leading his own brass band by 6 and touring with Lenny Kravitz as a teenager. Since then, he has become one of New Orleans’ most visible musical ambassadors, known for his electrifying blend of funk, soul, rock and jazz and his dynamic stage presence.
Trombone Shorty has released five chart-topping studio albums, most recently Lifted (2022) on Blue Note Records, which captures the raw power of his band’s live sound and features collaborations with Gary Clark Jr., Lauren Daigle and others. He has performed at major festivals around the world, appeared on dozens of television programs, and collaborated with artists across genres including Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Foo Fighters and Pharrell.
A dedicated advocate for music education, he founded the Trombone Shorty Foundation to support young musicians and leads annual cultural exchange trips to Cuba. At home in New Orleans, he headlines the annual Treme Threauxdown and closes the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival’s final set each year.
New Breed Brass Band
New Breed Brass Band
The Grammy-nominated New Breed Brass Band represents the next generation of New Orleans’ brass tradition. Founded by drummer and bandleader Jenard Andrews, nephew of Trombone Shorty, the ensemble was born out of the city’s vibrant parade and festival scene. Drawing on their Louisiana roots, the group developed an eclectic sound that fuses rock, funk, soul, jazz, hip-hop and Caribbean influences.
Under the mentorship of Trombone Shorty, who performs with the group whenever possible, New Breed Brass Band released its debut album, Made in New Orleans, in 2023. The album received widespread praise and earned a Grammy nomination for its authentic reflection of the city’s “we are one” street culture. A live recording from the band’s Jazz Fest appearance the following year led to a second Grammy nomination.
Most recently, the band collaborated with Trombone Shorty on Second Line Sunday, a project that revisits the second line sounds that first inspired them and celebrates the enduring spirit of New Orleans music.
