Dream Touch Believe explores the life and work of blind, Indigenous sculptor Michael Naranjo — a man who succeeded in doing what he was told he couldn’t do. As a boy growing up on the Santa Clara Pueblo Indigenous reservation in New Mexico, Naranjo dreamt of becoming an artist like many of his ancestors. But at just 23, he was drafted and his dreams nearly died in the fields of Vietnam following a grenade blast. An enemy explosion robbed Naranjo of his eyesight and the use of one hand. But he didn’t lose sight of his integrity and ambition. He fought past critics and social stereotypes to harness the life of his dreams to become an acclaimed artist, celebrated by collectors worldwide.
