Narrative Features
Any original work of fiction 41 minutes or longer completed any time after January 1, 2023. Narrative feature films may be foreign or domestic.
Documentary Features
Any nonfiction feature length film 41 minutes or longer completed any time after January 1, 2023. Documentary feature films may be foreign or domestic.
Shorts
Any Narrative or Documentary film 40 minutes or less completed any time after January 1, 2023. Films may be foreign or domestic. NIFF programs short films in themed packages. We may also screen a short film before a Narrative or Documentary feature.
Student Filmmaker Showcase: K-12 Division
Student filmmakers in the U.S., currently enrolled in grades K-12 (as of March 28, 2024), are invited to submit a short film with a running time of 10 minutes or less (including credits) completed any time after January 1, 2023. Films of all genres are accepted (documentary, narrative and animation). There is no premiere requirement for this category. Limit one entry per director. Films submitted in the Student Filmmaker Showcase category must be works written, directed and shot by students. Adult participation is limited to an advisory capacity. Applicants must submit proof of age with their submission. Please indicate the school you are attending and send a photocopy of your current student ID, driver license or ID card to naplesfilmfest@artisnaples.org or upload the photocopy to your submission.
Student Filmmaker Showcase: College/University Division
College and university students currently studying in undergraduate or graduate degree programs in the United States (as of the time the film was completed) are invited to submit narrative, documentary or animated films with a running time of 40 minutes or less (including credits) completed any time after January 1, 2023. Films of all genres are accepted (documentary, narrative and animation). There is no premiere requirement for this category. Limit 1 entry per director. Films submitted in the Student Filmmaker Showcase category must be works written, directed and shot by students. Adult participation is limited to an advisory capacity. Applicants must submit proof of age with their submission. Please indicate the school you are attending and send a photocopy of your current student ID, driver license, or ID card to naplesfilmfest@artisnaples.org.
Awards and Prizes
Work accepted to screen at the festival will be programmed in competitive and noncompetitive categories at the sole discretion of the Naples International Film Festival.
This year, we’re thrilled to be awarding over $10,000 in cash prizes, which includes a $1,500 cash prize for our Focus on the Arts Award given to a Narrative or Documentary film with an emphasis on one or more of the visual and performing arts.

The festival may also acknowledge special projects through additional non-cash awards each year.
General Rules
Rules for Submission
- Films must have been completed after January 1, 2023.
- All films must be available to screen during the Naples International Film Festival, October 24-27, 2024.
- Previous Screenings
- Films must not have screened theatrically in Florida or shown on television in the U.S. prior to the festival, and it is strongly preferred that films are not made available online (outside of virtual film festivals) prior to the festival, October 24-27, 2024. Short films may have screened online.
- NIFF strongly prefers films to not have screened publicly in Collier or Lee counties prior to screening at the Naples International Film Festival, October 24-27, 2024. This rule does not apply to the Student Filmmaker Showcase category. If there are any questions regarding premiere status, please contact us at naplesfilmfest@artisnaples.org
- If you are unsure if your film is eligible for festival consideration, please check with us before entering your film by emailing naplesfilmfest@artisnaples.org. Refunds will not be issued once a film is submitted.
- Florida Films: When submitting your film in any of our categories, you will have an opportunity to let us know if your project qualifies as a "Florida Film" (meaning principal or partial photography shot in the state of Florida).
- The Naples International Film Festival will not consider trailers or rough cuts for selection purposes.
- All films must be in their original language with English subtitles, when applicable.
- All films must be submitted and submission fees paid for through filmfreeway.com. Entries must be received by July 5, 2024. The Festival is not obligated to view late entries.
- The Naples International Film Festival accepts secure online screeners through FilmFreeway, Vimeo and YouTube.
- Films will be selected and entrants will be notified via email by October 7, 2024. All correspondence will be done by email; no information will be provided over the phone.
- Unfortunately, we are unable to provide individualized feedback to filmmakers.
- Artis—Naples reserves the right to make exceptions to the above rules at its sole discretion. Any exceptions to the submission rules must be approved by Artis—Naples.
