Joe “Mags” Magnarelli brings his bold hard-bop sound to Daniels Pavilion for a performance with the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra. Known for his fiery horn play and improvisational flair, Magnarelli moves effortlessly between breakneck solos and soulful, melodic phrasing. A fixture in both small groups and big bands, the Syracuse native has shared the stage with jazz luminaries like Lionel Hampton, Toshiko Akiyoshi and Harry Connick Jr. His warm tone and fearless swing — steeped in the spirit of 1950s and ’60s jazz — promise a thrilling afternoon of classics and originals, delivered with heart, muscle and finesse.
