Lew Del Gatto, artistic director, tenor saxophone
James Suggs, trumpet
Mike Harvey, drums

With bold phrasing and a hard-driving swing, Gary Smulyan is one of the most electrifying baritone saxophonists in jazz today. A six-time Grammy Award winner and perennial favorite in DownBeat magazine’s Critic’s Poll, Smulyan brings boundless energy and fearless creativity to every performance. Greatly influenced by the legendary Pepper Adams, Smulyan has developed a muscular, distinctive style all his own — one that has made him a go-to collaborator for jazz icons like Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea and Stan Getz. Now, for his first appearance with the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra, Smulyan promises a night of bold statements and unforgettable solos.
