The Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra brings the season to a close with music by pioneering hard bop pianist and composer Horace Silver. A founding member of The Jazz Messengers, Silver helped shape the genre with his percussive playing style and signature two-horn front line — a setup that defined countless quintets in the 1950s and ’60s. Drawing from gospel, blues and soul, his compositions are instantly recognizable for their catchy melodies and rhythmic drive. Silver’s music moves effortlessly between soulful reflection and playful swing, making this program an exuberant and heartfelt finale to another memorable season of All That Jazz.
