Cinema changed a lot between 1965 and 1969. Studio moguls who ruled Tinseltown since the 1930s were going the way of the dinosaur, replaced by filmmaking renegades who embraced the counterculture and used the medium to challenge mainstream moviemaking and the politics of the time, ushering in what became known as American New Wave Cinema. This lecture explores this tectonic shift through clips from films like Blow-Up, The Graduate and Bonnie and Clyde.
