Alex Katz: Theater and Dance is the first comprehensive exploration of Katzʼs playful and inventive collaborations with choreographers, dancers and members of avant-garde theater ensembles over six decades. In addition to presenting a range of works by innovators across the performing arts and poetry, it spotlights 15 productions Katz produced with Paul Taylor, exploring the creative partnership that generated some of the most significant postmodern dance and art of the 20th century.

Michael Novak

Michael Novak is the second artistic director in the history of the Paul Taylor Dance Company (est. 1954), appointed by Founding Artistic Director Paul Taylor before his death in 2018. Novak is the leading visionary for all artistic programming, working to maintain the highest levels of artistic excellence while nurturing and elevating a diverse and inclusive community of dancers, choreographers, collaborators, educators and audience members. In addition to preserving Taylor’s art, legacy and values, he oversees the company’s international touring platforms, commissioning program, educational outreach programming and media and online engagement tools—all to celebrate the modern dance idiom and bring it to stages around the world.
