The Vienna Philharmonic returns to Hayes Hall for two unforgettable evenings led by the dynamic and expressive conductor Andris Nelsons. Steeped in a tradition of extraordinary precision and tonal warmth, the orchestra brings its signature sound to two contrasting yet complementary programs.
The first concert pairs Lang Lang — one of the most electrifying pianists of our time — with Bartók’s luminous Piano Concerto No. 3, a work of surprising clarity and tenderness. The program concludes with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, a sweeping and imaginative journey through nature, nostalgia and triumph that remains his most beloved symphonic statement.
The second night offers two symphonic gems: Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, “Linz,” brimming with classical poise and culminating in a joyful, whirlwind finale, and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6, a rhythmic, folkloric celebration that radiates warmth, dance-like vitality and Bohemian spirit. From Bartók’s quiet lyricism to Dvořák’s exuberant rhythms, these two evenings with the Vienna Philharmonic offer a sweeping celebration of orchestral glory.
