King/Alice — Ode to Alice Coltrane
King/Ravel — Ma mère mére l’Oye (Mother Goose)
Known for its transcendent movement language and interdisciplinary collaborations, Alonzo King LINES Ballet makes its Naples debut with a stunning program including live music by the Naples Philharmonic, led by Associate Conductor Manuel López-Gómez.
The evening opens with Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose), a lyrical reimagining of Ravel’s delicate, dreamlike score. King’s choreography transforms familiar fairy-tale themes into a richly abstract journey through memory, emotion and wonder. The program then moves to Ode to Alice Coltrane, a profound homage to the visionary jazz composer whose work blended spiritual, classical and Eastern traditions. King’s movement captures the expansiveness of Coltrane’s sound, creating a sacred, meditative experience. Together, the works offer a compelling meditation on transformation, storytelling and the mystical power of music and dance.
