Musicians of the Naples Philharmonic
James Ehnes
violin
Robert Spanopiano

Brahms — Violin Sonata No. 3 in D Minor
Dvořák — String Quintet No. 3, Op. 97

Artistic Partner James Ehnes is joined by conductor and pianist Robert Spano and musicians of the Naples Philharmonic for the final performance of the 2023-24 Wang Chamber Music series. These two artists are not only accomplished musicians, but they also have a long-standing friendship, and their camaraderie brings an undeniable charm to the stage. The program opens with a sizzling Brazilian-inspired percussion suite by contemporary American composer Russell Hartenberger before flowing into classical chamber music favorites. Audiences will be delighted by the musical marriage of violin and piano in Brahms’ Sonata No. 3. The program concludes with Dvořák’s charming String Quintet No. 3, which was inspired by a summer spent in Iowa and blends a Midwestern American inspiration with the composer’s own European origins.

The Wang Chamber Music series is generously sponsored by David* and Cecile Wang.
