Beethoven — Piano Sonata No. 27 in E Minor
Schubert — Piano Quintet in A Major, “Trout”
Jeremy Denk, one of America’s foremost pianists and a New York Times bestselling author, joins musicians of the Naples Philharmonic for a captivating program featuring Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 27 and Schubert’s Trout Quintet. Known for his interpretive depth, versatility and longtime musical partnership with Grammy-winning violinist Joshua Bell, Denk brings clarity and warmth to these two beloved works.
Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 27 is a compact, two-movement piece filled with poignant expression and lyrical detail. In contrast, Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A Major, affectionately known as the Trout, offers a more expansive and buoyant musical journey. With its five movements and famously charming variations on a theme from Schubert’s own song Die Forelle (The Trout), the work is a well-loved chamber music favorite.
Denk’s acclaimed performances across the U.S. and Europe, including his Billboard-charting recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, have earned him praise for his insight, refinement and artistry — qualities on full display in this intimate and compelling program.
The Sypert Salon Series is generously sponsored by Drs. George Sypert and Joy Arpin.
