Rising star pianist and recent Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Medal Winner Evren Ozel joins musicians of the Naples Philharmonic for a program that highlights both technical brilliance and musical innovation. Known for his expressive depth and adventurous spirit, Ozel takes the spotlight in Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor, a bold and emotionally charged work that expanded the traditional piano trio by adding a viola — creating a fuller, more balanced sound and setting a new precedent in chamber music. The quartet remains one of Mozart’s most influential contributions to the genre, inspiring generations of composers to follow.
The program also includes a selection of keyboard sonatas by Baroque composer Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti. Known for their dazzling virtuosity and surprising harmonic shifts, these compact works are full of inventive charm. Rounding out the concert is Louis Spohr’s Violin Duet in D Major, a lyrical and engaging piece that offers an elegant dialogue between two violins.
