Naples Philharmonic Wang Chamber Music
Musicians of the Naples Philharmonic
Paul Huang, violin
Ysaÿe — Sonata for Solo Violin No. 3, “Ballade”
Jennifer Higdon — American Canvas
Arensky — String Quartet No. 2
Renowned violinist Paul Huang, recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, joins musicians of the Naples Philharmonic for a chamber program that explores expressive depth and technical brilliance.
Central to the performance is Arensky’s String Quartet No. 2, a poignant and personal tribute to Tchaikovsky written the year after his death. Scored for violin, viola and two cellos, the piece is filled with lush textures, mournful beauty and moments of quiet reverence — widely regarded as Arensky’s most significant chamber work.
The program also features Ysaÿe’s Sonata for Solo Violin No. 3, “Ballade” — a fiery, virtuosic work that builds slowly before erupting in a dazzling cascade of sound. Completing the program is Jennifer Higdon’s American Canvas, a vivid and rhythmic tribute to American visual artists Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock and Andrew Wyeth.
The Wang Chamber Music series is generously sponsored by David* and Cecile Wang.
