On exhibition

October 17, 2026 – June 27, 2027
Located in the Kohan Gallery, Hayes Hall

Photographer, painter and installation artist Anastasia Samoylova was born in Moscow and lives in Miami. Over the past 20 years, she has created a body of work that demonstrates her keen eye for the anachronisms and spectacles that characterize contemporary life in Florida. This installation includes work from two of her most significant series: Flood Zone, which unflinchingly yet poetically tackles the impacts of climate change and rising sea levels on Florida’s citizens, landscapes and built environments, and Floridas, which includes images from around the state that capture the incongruous and often wryly humorous aspects of life in the Sunshine State.

Samoylova was featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s solo exhibition Floridas: Anastasia Samoylova and Walker Evans (2024-25). Her work has also been the subject of solo exhibitions at museums in the United States, including the Norton Museum of Art, Nasher Museum of Art, George Eastman Museum and Chrysler Museum of Art, and internationally at venues including Saatchi Gallery, London; C/O Berlin; and Fundación MAPFRE, Madrid and Barcelona. Samoylova’s work is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Pérez Art Museum Miami; the High Museum of Art, Atlanta; and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago; among others.
