On exhibition

October 17, 2026 – June 27, 2027
Located in the Friends of Artis—Naples Gallery, Hayes Hall

Savannah Magnolia creates stylized interpretations of human anatomy with a distinctive hard-edge style and boldly saturated color. Born in Fort Myers and based in Tampa, she studied neuroscience at Boston University before shifting her focus to painting, earning a BFA from the Ringling College of Art and Design. Savannah Magnolia brings her interest in biology to her practice as a visual artist by adapting and transforming renderings of X-rays, CT scans, MRIs and other medical images. She paints entirely freehand and with tremendous precision, creating analog work with the visual precision of digitally produced imagery. Her unexpected use of vibrant color adds exuberance and playfulness to subject matter more often associated with a cold, clinical, black-and-white aesthetic.

In addition to exploring her academic and artistic interests, Savannah Magnolia’s work reflects her personal experience of living with a chronic autoimmune disease. The artist states: “Living with a progressive disability and deteriorating health has added an additional layer of meaning to my work as I’ve had to continually adapt my life and my studio practice. My hope is to illuminate the reality of living with chronic conditions, spark conversations about the current healthcare system and advocate for greater accessibility overall.”
