Smyth — Overture to The Wreckers
Korngold — Violin Concerto
Schumann — Symphony No. 2

Known for his radiant tone and expressive range, violinist Paul Huang joins the Naples Philharmonic for Korngold’s richly romantic Violin Concerto — an elegant, virtuosic work that blends cinematic sweep with classical form. Guest conductor Mario Venzago leads the program, which opens with Ethel Smyth’s Overture to The Wreckers, a dramatic and driving piece from her opera about a coastal village’s dark secrets. The evening concludes with Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, a powerful expression of resilience and renewal, written as the composer emerged from a long period of illness. Together, the works form a program of emotional intensity, lyricism and stirring contrasts.

Prelude at 6:30pm
Join the conductor before the performance for an insightful 30-minute prelude discussion about the program.
